Well, he is a very very famous and successful actor who has performed well in many highly popular dramas. He is a veteran, at his young age. Also, he is extremely adorable to women. As annoying as his fans have shown themselves to be, I have found him charming and delightful to watch in everything I’ve seen him in. He’s a really good actor. So that’s probably why. Yes, they’re probably spending big bucks promoting him like this but this is a sure thing – he’s a proven commodity. My only reservation with him really is that although I know he madly wants to be a singer, he’s really not much of one. He’s another one of these really marginal talents in that regard that can be plumped up and pitch referenced in the studio but forget about what he actually sounds like live. But that’s a minor quibble because as I said he’s a wonderful actor with a proven track record of hits.
He has marginal talent in singing but he’s an entertainer, he had even filled up the Tokyo Dome, him alone when other company brought the whole town.
. And I agree with you @lili, he’s really a good actor plus he’s even more beautiful than his leading lady in Love Rain. My daughter really endured the boring first episodes of that drama because of JGS.

I just finished LoveRain yesterday. Oh, man am I never NOT a fan of YoonA either. All the cliches of bad TV drama acting are in her repertoire – every single one. JGS on the other hand was charming and adorable as always. He has a wonderful speaking voice, he’s a solid acting talent and it’s always a pleasure to watch him.
Speaking of YoonA, here is a very interesting video I ran across this morning while trying to see if I could find a video of a song of Hwanhee’s. It’s about SM, SMTown and contains all kinds of interesting revelations. You can also see first hand the intimidation factor that Lee Soo Man has instilled in his “talent.” Check it out.

Pheonixia, my friend! Great to see you! I’m certainly watching (no big revelation there, I know…the bigger story would be if there was a man, woman or child brave and/or foolish enough to try to KEEP me from watching! ) Since it’s on Viki I admit to feeling a little disoriented because my usual go-to vid place is Dramafever, but I am watching and am of course mesmerized by…um… certain of the characters… lol

I’ll check Dramabeans’ recap for Ep 2. Thank you for letting us know. I have been hesitant to visit Dramabeans after their take on Ep. 1. Hehe. I’m not an expert in Korean dramas but I’m glad you opened this interesting topic here in GAPP. When I watched Dr. Jin Ep 1, I had low expectations because of what I’ve read from Dramabeans. How they keep saying that SSH can’t act, how Jaejoong delivers his line, how the drama itself is “all over the place”, how some parts are cringe worthy, and so on. So personally, for me, Dr Jin has been more than what I expected. It’s awesome actually. I love it more than the Japanese version. I’m used to watching CSI so I can take the gory parts. And so far, I don’t know if it’s because I’m biased with Jaejoong but he’s always the one I’m looking forward to. It’s his character that shines in this drama, his story is interesting.

Thanks for the link. I’m watching the drama too, and I’m really interested in seeing the character growth of Kim KyungTak because he has several blossoming conflicts (Dr. Jin/Young-rae/her brother Young-hwi/ his dad) that have the potential to really define his character.
I also am looking forward to the development of why Dr. Jin was sent to the past – was it mainly for his own growth and at the same time to somehow aid in the nation’s history (or vice versa) or is it something else completely? And who/what is the brain baby fetus and the unknown patient and what’s their significance? I haven’t seen the original Japanese version, so I’m anticipating the course of the plot.
