With the successful conclusion of Park Yoochun’s drama and a “goodbye” to viewers, Kim Jaejoong’s character as a “flower boy” police officer in “Dr. Jin” takes the place of Yoochun’s Lee Gak (“Rooftop Prince”) on the TV screen. On the other hand, Kim Junsu recently released his first solo album and is currently taking advantage of a great opportunity as well. It is safe to say that even during these times the members of JYJ are in no way inferior to anyone.
Last month Park Yoochun’s Wed-Thurs drama “Rooftop Prince” ended. Park Yoochun acted as the character Lee Gak. […]
Whether it is a historical, contemporary, comedy or traditional drama…Park Yoochun took on such a diverse mix of genres. For now he has decided to take a break and is considering his next role. On the other hand, fellow member Kim Jaejoong is acting as Kim Kyung Tak in the MBC drama “Dr. Jin.”
When asked of fellow member Jaejoong’s acting, Yoochun responded:
“When I went to South America I saw the Japanese version of “Dr. Jin”. Originally I watched it because I heard that Jaejoong Hyung was going to act in the drama but it turned out to be really interesting. Thus I was in anticipation for Jaejoongie-Hyung’s performance. However (upon watching his performance) because it was such a new character I was flustered and taken aback. (Laugh).”
During the time of the interview, Park Yoochun (who at the time had only been able to see the homepage highlight of “Dr. Jin”) said truthfully of Jaejoong, “When Hyung was starring in SBS’s “Protect the Boss” he also acted as a Director. Because Hyung was able to project a different feeling of a “Director” at that time I was a little envious.”
Furthermore “In terms of acting, I was not able to give any unique tips. It wasn’t in my position to say what would be the proper way to act out or interpret a certain role. However, of course I give suggestions like “What about this?” I think it’s best to let my younger brother Yoohwan and Jaejoongie-Hyung express a character with their own feeling. Thus, because of this I feel it’s not necessary for me to give any tips.”
Yet despite this, Yoochun continued “Through video clips, I saw (Jaejoong) Hyung’s sharp image. In “Protect the Boss,” as a Director he was able to give off an intense/strong image as a Director. When I saw that I thought to myself ‘So this is what’s called eyes that shine.’ The extent of just how impressive Jaejoongie-Hyung is can be seen in the fact that though Jaejoongie Hyung is acting in his first historical drama, compared to my first time (acting), it seems “ten-times” better. It is clear that by the end of his drama it will live up to people’s expectations.”
Finally, Park Yoochun responded to a question over the possibility of Jaejoong’s drama being similar to his own by saying “I have not yet been able to see his (Jaejoong’s) drama yet so I’m actually not quite sure if it is similar to mine. Hyung did not talk to me about it to such an extent. Before I filmed Sungkyunkwan Scandal I received practice for three weeks. During that time Hyung also was preparing for a drama as well. Thus, it’s unavoidable that there are similarities. For whatever reason I wanted to use such feeling to surprise people but it seems that our appearances are quite different.”
With such a response one can see Yoochun’s infinite confidence/faith in Kim Jaejoong. I wonder if when he watches Jaejoong’s performance he’d be wearing a big smile.

we proud of you both
They are all doing well. That’s really good.
They have their own strengths~ I like reading articles about this. Brotherly love~ <3
Thanks for the translation!
Such a heart warming feeling reading this article. I like that YC’s comments are very incisive, honest, and natural. I love reading about what really goes through an artist’s mind rather than fluffy, scripted answers that do not share anything about the interviewee at all
Each of them does not take liberty to infuse their own style in acting and it’s wise and humble at the same time. Each character interpretation is leaning to one’s personality that somehow, however similar the roles are, the outcome/delivery/attack depends on the actors unique personality.
i’m glad that chunnie appreciates the shining eyes in Jae at TSDJ.
Support both of them coz their acting improved day by day
YC always give best praise
jae character is strong when he play a role he make it unique like muwon, just first glance is unique.yc is soft, smooth,he become character & grow on u slowly.
in my personal opinion, Chunnie has a more suitable kind of physical feature to act as period scholar or noble gentleman. Thus, I fall hard for his character in SKKS, I so love his smarty nerdy role.
Jae, on the other hand, has a very expressive facial feature and so modern-like that I love his role
as a young, cool Executive in PTB. Aaaarrrgghhh, I love them both…
Those are some nice words, Yoochun-ah. It gives off the honest, close feeling of a man talking about his older brother, not just some empty praises. Chunnie’s acting is superb, he’s become an established actor. Although I’m biased, I’ll admit Jaejoongie is still a step behind him, as in he’s still learning to solidify his acting skills. Yoochun is right, it’s better to let the actor get to know, understand, absorb a character’s characteristics, and finally make it his own, than to just take advice from everyone else. Anyway, I’m proud of Soulmates, drama-wise of course!
Both your eyes glitter too! Tehee. So humble!
I’m sure Chun will be smiling big time when he watches Jae as Kim Kyung Tak! Jae is solid in this role and I know he’s just going to get better and better
I am so love the way chunnie talk about JJ,…so sweet, care, and understandable …Soulmate ..the best ^____^
YC so modest.
Of course, both of you are great in your own ways.
and i as a fan, can’t help but be proud of your developments.
Awwhh, you eyes shines too!
Awww so many nice and praise for his hyung!
I am proud of you both … Though Jaejoong is a bit less experienced since this is just his second k-drama and it’s saeguk, he is doing pretty well! I have to agree with the ‘eyes that shine’ part. I have never seen such expressive eyes before. They talk for him.
He is perfecting this in Dr Jin now. When Young Rae was mad at him his eyes looked just so sad that I really wanted to cry.
Soulmates is REAL,
Jae and Chun have a lot of things in common (their personal traits, their music and as actors) , and I think both their eyes are shining.
there is a reason they are together and doing so well. they build each other up and support just like we fans do for them. these latest articles say something about them too. it feels like they have earned the praise and respect of others, they are recognized now for their contributions to acting and singing and spoken of in respectful terms. their hard work is paying off and hopefully they are no longer seen as the 3 who rebelled and broke away. hope this makes sense, my brain is not working so well. i love them so. and i i am proud of their accomplishmentss!
It does and I agree with everything you said.
@koreamom
I really loved and appreciated your comments too. The members are all doing so well right now – they are having unprecedented success in everything they do against difficult odds. Here’s the thing: no, their current situation with regard to the continuing lawsuit and its fallout is not perfect. There lives are not flawless, they have struggles and hard times. But who among us doesn’t have struggles and challenges in life? Who among us has a perfect life?? I’m willing to bet we all have our trials and difficulties. And JYJ has theirs. But see how they have dealt with them! It’s really admirable.
I love soulmates~ ^___^
Silly child, your eyes shine too. Good article.
These two boys (JaeChun) tend to praise each other alot. I remember watching them in AADBSK 2 &3 (esp, the 3). All they did was praise each other. I was like, “Is this a praise-a-marathon or what?”. LOL
Teehee~ Jaejoong-Hyung made Micky “flustered”<3
That's so cute. Their support for each other is the greatest~~ Yoochun watching the original Dr. Jin so he could analyze Jae's role^^
And I agree with his comment, Jae has a sharp image with this role! Really, what a cool guy~~
