[NEWS] 120614 Japanese fans attending JYJ fan meeting, 10 Billion Won economic effect

June 14, 2012 · anmcha3

Photobucket

More than 7,000 Japanese tourists will come to Korea in order to see group JYJ. Around 10 Billion Won is the expected effect in Korea’s economy, proving tremendous power of Hallyu tourism.

7024 Japanese fans will go to Korea for 4 days to attend the 2012 JYJ Membership week in SETEC, Gangnam-gu. The number of arriving foreigners simultaneously for a single event has been identified as the largest ever. More than 7,000 fans will be staying in Korea for 4 days and 3 nights.

According to the Korea National Tourism Organization, Japanese tourists travelling to Korea for 3 days spend around 1,200 USD (1.4M KRW) for eating, sleeping, and shopping. If you enjoy shopping and sightseeing, the amount can be significantly higher.

Officials from C-JES management stated that this is the largest single-event ever held, thus earning a new record in tourism industry.

Japanese fans will start to arrive on June 27 and 28 from 14 airports throughout Japan in 116 flights. 3,500 rooms are booked for accommodation in Seoul, Incheon, Suwon, etc.

The JYJ Membership week is the first attempt in the country with more than 15,000 Korean fans and 7,000 fans in attending. Fan meetings will be held on June 30 and July 1.

    JYJ and CJES.. this is very ambitious.. but I support you ^_____^ I know you’ll do well .. Entertainment Industry can block you etc etc defame you, bully you or gang up on you.. but none of them will ever have the creativity and guts to try something daring .. so for the guts thumbs up ! praying for your success.. dont give up no matter how hard the preparation turns out.. Everything may not be perfect but in order to achieve big we have to take steps courageously ne? so go go go!

    I have handled small events here and there.. and preparation takes 1 month for participants of 150 to 300.. I cant imagine what kind of preparation there is for something as large scale as this.. but fighting you can do it!!

      And I believe it’s a FREE event but you do have to be a JYJ club member to get in. I don’t think it’s a free event to the public because it would bankrupt them with all the people who would show up.

        membership events are being held to keep members happy.. usually some groups just give out freebies.. but to have an exhibition is rare.. I will always forever hoping that international membership will happen but right now am happy for my fellow Kfans and Jfans who are excited now to be there ^__^

          Apparently they make it a little tricky to join in Korea too. According to my daughter who is attending university there, she got the Alien Registration Card with the number you have to use, successfully got signed in and filled out the form but when she went to pay the membership fee she found out she had to sign up for an internet banking account and fund it to pay. To get internet banking you have to go to and open the account at a K-bank which she has not done yet because she needs someone to go with her that speaks and understands Korean better than she does.

          She didn’t have that issue when she joined CNBlue’s fan club.

        • jenknight18
          June 14, 2012

          I will try to ask around if some of other friends who were members needed to provide internet banking account as well.. but i hope she find someone who can assist her in joining ^_^

        • dbullock (@___djb___)
          June 14, 2012

          @jenknight18

          Thanks! If there is another way it’d be good to know. She had somebody who helped her read everything when she was trying to sign up online but I don’t think it’s someone she knows well enough to ask them to come with her to a bank.

          June 14, 2012

          @dbullock

          That method of payment is needed to buy something online from almost any store in Korea. Very few retailers have their own payment modules, and rely on third-party applications like the one C-Jes uses in order to buy anything. Banking in Korea is so different than anything I’d experienced before. If she’s going to live in Korea her life will be much easier if she gets it all figured out! ^_^ By the way, there are many banks in Korea who have English speaking staff and it’s pretty easy to open an account at one. Your daughter could try dropping by jyjkr.wordpress.com to find help maybe.

        • dbullock (@___djb___)
          June 14, 2012

          @Dr Jin sub-wanter lol

          Thanks for verifying that… I think she’s worked around opening a Kbank account as much as she could but is finding out the drawbacks. Thing is she has decided whether she’s coming home in early July or staying thru August so I thinks she’s stalled doing it for as long as she could stand it.

          What’s going to be the deciding factor if she does it is whether or not she REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to get into the JYJ Membership Week fair or not. I’m betting she’ll cave in and do it…. :)

      Ok, I hope I’m using the correct formula here, but if I’m wrong, someone please correct me. Thanks.

      10,000,000,000 Won
      1173.709 = USD equivalent/Won; as of today’s current exchange rate.

      (disclaimer – I keep a gadget on my desktop that tells me the daily exhange rate of the won. I like to be able to know how much they are screwing over JYJ at all times.) :-)

      10B won / 1173.709 = $8, 519,999.42 USD

      If I am correct, and I hope I am…screw the Hallyu tourism! This is what JYJ means to your country SK! They don’t even have to leave it to bring it home. What is wrong with you people? JYJ is not ashamed to bring their fans to their country and show her off. Yet you treat them so shabbly. How do you lay your heads on your pillows at night?

        A solid gold comment from my V.E. Sister! You are SOOOOOOO right in everything you said. JYJ are a national treasure fuly capable and more than willing to bring REAL treasure and prestige to S. Korea and how are they repaid, time and time again?? By a slap in the face, a deaf ear and a blind eye to what has been happening to them.

    “proving tremendous power of Hallyu tourism.”
    Is JYJ a member of that so called “Hallyu” , why can’t we see any of them in any local music or entertainment programs ?
    JYJ is a singing group so they are supposed to be seen primarily in music programs …, how come they are part of Hallyu?
    But I understand 2 members are drama actors and the other one is a musical actor and a performing solo singer, but where’s JYJ as a unit ? I can’t really understand this Hallyu thing …
    But anyway, JYJ Fighting , another legendary record !

      IKR lol “hallyu” is used again for JYJ, and yet as far as “hallyu” goes, JYJ don’t benefit half as much as others because of their current situation. When JYJ have activities, it’s because of JYJ, not KPop. This is JYJPop-effect!

    To CJES.. i know its tough.. its tough if you have JYJ as stars..they are so in demand to fans all over the world.. they have a lot of haters.. big companies are against them,, fandoms are keen on keeping their welfare at its best.. there are so many demands here and there.. but dont give up! ^__^ .. please learn more, be open more, be patient more and never get tired ^__^ .. if JYJ is being strong you have to be also,, we dont walk alone.. we need comrades to win battles.. you need JYJ and the fans, JYJ hired you to do the job of keeping fans satisfied and fans need you to keep the oppas away from being jobless (quoting Junsu) aahahhaa <3 We need each other so let us listen to each other and be always open and understanding.. haters will hate .. antis will stir shit.. it is given.. but those who persevere succeeds..

    From time to time, we’ve heard news like “JYJ helps boost tourism and economy”, “JYJ spreads Hallyu wave to other countries”, “JYJ and fans donate to this and that,” etc, but Korea can’t even do something as simple as letting these 3 famous singers sing on TV. How nice! *sarcasm* Despite that, JYJ aren’t discouraged, always move forward, and prove that they can stand on their own feet just fine. I’m hoping the JYJ Membership Week will be the bomb!

    JYJ fighting! Let’s pray that all goes well and they get tonnes of good press for this. It doesn’t bother me that much that their achievements are highlighted as part of hallyu wave, because after all, it’s seen as a positive influence and helps their public image in Korea. There is strong nationalistic sentiment in Korea so that takes priority over individual achievements. Leaving that aside, I really enjoy the fact that they’re continually breaking new ground and portraying themselves as worldwide artistes with huge influence.

    Now…waiting for them to come up with some viable way to engage international fans……

    Till today, I have probably never really realised what for a mamoth task C-JeS took upon themselves with this membership week. I ´ve been lately involved to organise two small 2-days events, both for less then 50 foreign participants and it took me each like 2 weeks and a help of a colleague. I can´t imagine to organise something like this, with simultaneously running individual careers of our 3 boys, Yoohwan, Ji Hyo and their other actors. The staff had to stretch thin for a few months. Thank you for taking care of our boys.

      Hopefully, they used a professional event planner, but that still would require a huge amount of time for someone from the office to coordinate. There just are not enough words to say how hard this company works trying to keep JYJ relevant. It is no mean feat.

    familiar phrase ?? in the Bible its said ” i am not welcome in my own Land ” .
    really people … is there any good powerful indvidual Out there that’s still considerate and genuinely kind to notice your unsung heroes ? .
