He grew his hair long when he was playing a struggling singer/musician in “Mary Stayed Out All Night” and his fans went nuts they loved his look so much. Actually I think HE went nuts and decided he really WAS a rock singer. (He’s not. He has an average, kind of thin and totally nondescript voice.) But ever since, he’s kind of kept his hair long, probably because of the fans and also because he thinks it makes him look like a “real” musician…
