FAN ACCOUNT 3:
By @cakecircle
When it was announced that JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong would have a November 3 fan meeting, I took it as a sign that I should finally attend and support him. It’s a long weekend for us Filipinos so the timing was perfect.
There were three of us who took the PAL flight to Jakarta on All Saints’ Day. We were very excited, even prepared fan gifts representing our country, the Philippines.
We safely arrived in Jakarta around midnight. Took airport shuttle to Aston Marina that became our temporary crib.
On the day of the fan meet, we took a cab going to MEIS (the venue). At the lobby, there were booths for fan gifts, tickets and another for official merchandise. RockJJ and Maze (dedicated fan groups) provided fans with banners, glow sticks and wristbands for free. There were also vendors outside selling unofficial JYJ items.
We forgot to eat lunch due to excitement. So while we had time to hang out, I had a burger and soda. But I can’t even taste anything anymore due to overwhelming emotion that I’ll finally see Jaejoong in person. I took a dose of Biogesic just in case. Hehe.
Once we were inside, we were ushered to our seats. And the moment Jaejoong appeared on stage, he took our breath away. He may look sick but his radiance remained unrivaled. He’s the definition of a shining star.
When Jaejoong’s handwritten letter was being read, a lot of fans were in tears. Among the 3 of us, I got to seat so close to the stage. Not knowing anything that was being said, my kind Indonesian seatmate offered help by translating.
During the event, scenes from “Time Slip Dr. Jin” and “Protect the Boss” were shown. Then the MC would ask questions related to it, whether it happened to Jaejoong in real life. Jaejoong would reply back using iPad. We’d watch him type in Hangul.
Although the “high five” session was fast, I managed to give him a “homie handshake.” Jaejoong acknowledged each and every fan that went by. His sincerity was felt by each one of us. We saw some fans that fainted.
The fan meet may not have the whole shebang but it was worth going to Jakarta just to see Jaejoong. I’m more than happy; I can’t even describe the feeling. I’d like to thank the admins of JYJ Philippines that I was with for this unforgettable rejuvenating experience.

FAN ACCOUNT 4:

The fanmeeting in Jakarta was a dream come true. I really made a crazy decision to fly in to Jakarta to see Jaejoong live. Sadly, I could not understand a single word of the fanmeet as the organizer conducted everything in Bahasa Indonesia despite saying that it will be conducted in English as well.
Right at the start of the fanmeet, I had no idea the letter was written by him to apologise for being unable to talk. While the letter was being read, I saw a fangirl next to me sigh and say “oppaaa” resignedly like she was willing Jaejoong not to be so silly and take better care of himself instead of feeling guilty and apologetic. (Something like how JYJ were calling the girl “pabo” in Penzal-Q advert. Haha.) It was only then that I realized the letter was written by Jaejoong and I was guessing he must be feeling apologetic about something.
While the letter was being read, Jaejoong was just standing like he was being punished and staring down at the floor. He looked so sad it was heartbreaking. It did not help that the spotlight shining on his fair skin and smooth glossy hair was making him glow. He looked ethereal. I think everyone just wanted to rush up to the stage to hug him and pat him on his cute bowl-shaped-haircut head and tell him everything will be ok.
While looking at him like that, it suddenly dawned on me that Jaejoong must have looked exactly this helpless and sad so many times. How could SM and Korean broadcasting people treat this poor boy so harshly? Why does this young man have to take all the ridicule, humiliation, and hardship inflicted by those heartless greedy old fogeys?
The fanmeet then began. Jaejoong was typing on the Ipad in response to the MC’s questions. Jaejoong looked so solemn and sad in the first part of the fanmeet. He only gave brief rueful smiles when the MC teases him. But those smiles were enough to make the entire hall scream wildly. Each time he smiles slightly, the hall erupts in screams. It was so comical and heartwarming at the same time.
I must say the MC is the best in this difficult situation. He was high throughout and comical in his actions though I did not understand a single word. He seemed to be putting in his all in an effort to genuinely cheer up Jaejoong. There was a point when Jaejoong turned back to watch a favourite scene in Dr Jin/PTB and leaned his chin on the arm chair inviting squeals from all the fangirls. Haha. He looked like a little boy everyone wanted to go up and pat his head. The MC saw Jaejoong doing that and made a gesture to backhug Jaejoong. Hahaha. Even the MC is also lured by Jaejoong’s charms.
Sadly, I don’t have much to recall from the fanmeet as I could not understand a single word of what was going on. After the fans sang for Jaejoong, he bowed while clapping his hands. But he still looked so sad.
However, during the Hi-5 and photo session, Jaejoong appeared 100X happier. He came out on stage smiling gently. I guess it was because he was feeling less guilty and happier that he could do something for his fans. The silly boy. Every time he sees a kid, his smile will widen. He pinched a baby boy’s cheeks and grinned. He shaped a little girl’s fingers into a “V” sign. He will bend down lower during Hi-5 so that the younger fan can reach his hands. There was once his bodyguard asked him something. Probably to rest or something and he just smiled sweetly and looked down with a slight shake of his head. Faints.
When it was my turn to go on stage, I was shaking and my hands were clammy. I stood at the end of the photoshoot line so I was near to where Jaejoong was hi5-ing the previous batch of fans. While Jaejoong stood there to wait for my group to be properly lined up for the photoshoot, I was just staring at him. He was so close to me. Ok, not close enough for me to touch him but probably only 3m away. He was lean and tall with broad shoulders. And extremely fair. Really glowing. His eyes were large and intense. He looked like he walked out of a comic book. I just wanted to commit this image into my memory. He was so good-looking!!! Then a girl in front of me said “Jaejoong saranghae” and Jaejoong smiled shyly and looked down. How much more adorable can Jaejoong get? This smile can be seen at 0:11 of this video

While waiting in line for Hi-5, I was observing his outstretched hand. It was fair yet manly, and large enough. Just like how a guy’s hands should look like. When it was my turn, I was wiping my clammy hand furiously on my shorts coz I did not want Jaejoong to feel icky. So I just briefly touched his fingers with the tips of my fingers. Hence, I have no memories of how his hands feel like. This is going to be my eternal regret. T.T Literally once-in-a-lifetime chance gone just like that. Why do I have to have clammy hands?!?! The bane of my existence.
But I made sure I was staring at his face. Not everyday you can get to see Jaejoong just an arm’s length away from you, and I wanted to burn this image into my memory. Haha. And dear Jaejoong also made sure he had eye contact with each and every fan. But it is really really bad for the heart. When I made eye contact with his eyes, I am quite sure my heart stopped. His gaze is very intense and smoldering. I am not exaggerating. His gaze is piercing and unforgettable. I will not forget the effort he took to make each girl feel special even if it is just for a split second. This is despite how exhausted he was and how much pain he was in.
The fanmeet lasted till almost 11pm. It was well over the time limit. Fangirls were hugging and crying below the stage. People were sitting there staring at the big screen watching Jaejoong repeatedly hi5-ing the fans, walking and sitting down for pictures, then walking to the side to start hi-5 again. Everyone could see how exhausted Jaejoong was and yet how determined he was to endure his pain to greet each and every fan and to keep his smile.
Someone had summed up nicely that both Jaejoong and the fans were feeling apologetic and grateful towards each other that night. Jaejoong grateful that his fans were happy to spend time with him; and apologetic that he could not sing or speak. His fans were grateful that Jaejoong is fulfilling their dreams of seeing him upclose and being able to touch his hand, while being apologetic that they are putting Jaejoong through all this while he was so sick and weak.
Jaejoong ah, please take good care of yourself from now on. We can see your heart and we will support you unconditionally. For being strong and enduring everything so that we can see you and hear you sing, thank you so much. May your road ahead be much more smoother. A fantastic guy like you only deserves the best.
