On November 29 at a hotel in Germany, JYJ’s Junsu made statements concerning singer PSY. He said, “AchievingBillboard Top 10 is hard even for American singers, so for PSY to reach top two with a song sang in Korean was an amazing accomplishment. Realistically, I think it would be hard for other Korean singers to break his record, except maybe PSY himself. Perhaps, and hopefully, we could be the one to break the record.”
Junsu continued, “Music is not like soccer where you can keep a clear score. When I say my goal is to succeed in music, what I mean is to improve people’s view on KPop music.”
He also shared the story of how he first saw “Gangnam Style” MV. He said, “When I was in U.S. to shoot “Uncommitted” MV, an American actor for this MV showed me “Gangnam Style” MV on his cellphone.”
Junsu has been a member of DBSK, and then JYJ, and became a top star in Korea. As a member of JYJ, his popularity has spread to Japan, and the rest of the world including in North and South America.
In May 2012, Junsu has released a solo album “Xia” and has performed in Asia, North and South America, and Europe. He will be completing his world tour on December 30 in Oberhausen in Germany.

I remember Junsu saying in his concert DVD that popularity is a very volatile thing and changes fairly quickly as the fans start to evolve as well. He said that he is not afraid this displacement in popularity though he does wish to be well loved just like how every idol would. But what really ‘struck a chord’ in me was when he said that he just wants to see how far he can go in this career and how far he can push himself on a personal level.
I respect him for that. Popularity as a competing factor is too unrealistic and subjected to too much possibilities. JYJ has put up a good fight and I think they are happy that their fans stayed by them through all this. May JYJ soar to greater heights in the future!!

@jyjxoxo – AMEN! Though Junsu may be JYJ’s “maknae” when it comes to interviews, i’m so impressed with his smartness.
Junsu is like my ultimate role model. If my teacher asks who I Look up to, I would proudly say “Xia Freakin Junsu”, even if no one knows the hell I’m talking about.
Ps. His solo album wasn’t called xia but tarantallegra right?
Maybe jyj could try and aim to break that record..im sure psy has opened the world to hallyu waves in america..ppl would pay attention on the next korean group to make a debut in us…lets hope..hehe..i hope their next album would be daebak!

That was a smart answer. To me there are various levels of success. Junsu is very successful!!!!!!! It is no need to compare the success to others because everyone has their own level of success.

Psy has been sweeping America for some months now–I think he has appeared on EVERY talk show on the air–they absolutely love him over here. I can now even do the Gangnam style dance after watching Psy dance countless times on TV. It is so rare to see an Asian music entertainer perform on American TV–I’m just fascinated every time I see Psy. I hope that JYJ will follow in Psy’s footsteps and break into the American market. Even if it doesn’t happen, I think I will always support JYJ.
