121208 Open Discussion Post!

December 8, 2012 · JYJ3 Team

Dear Readers,

We’ve decided to create an “Open Discussion Post” in order to stimulate debate, discussion and exchange of ideas among our readers.

Because in this place you can talk about different issues, it’s important to remind our readers that you must follow the rules in our blog (Read here).

More details:

  • ODP will be posted every week starting from today at 12:00 PM EST Time Zone
  • Since “Open Discussion Post” is created exclusively for debate, discussion and exchange of ideas, you must not spam here with daily pictures, polls, news, spazz, unless you use the news/picture for a discussion  topic. But we recommend our readers to do that in GAPP.
  • You can talk about different issues related to JYJ/Kpop/Kdrama/SM/AVEX and other themes here.
  • If the comment creates fanwars between JYJ’s fans, it will be deleted by the Admins.
  • Since we’re an english fansite, we recommend our readers leave their comments in english because it would be of great help in moderating the comments.
  • Personal attacks are NOT allowed.
  • No more discussions related to GAPP vs ODP.
  • According to how things work here, we can increase the rules to maintain a healthy debate.

Thank you for your attention

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Jaedara for your efforts tweeting those shows. It is you and fans like you who will make the difference and who will force open the final door for JYJ. Keep up the great work and tell others! We need a load of tweets going out daily until these people wake up and relent.

If they wanna act then that is their business. I think that now that they realize that acting is a serious art form of its own that requires a different set of skills from being an idol that they are starting to not grab at any lead role that comes their way. Their choices, their problems. Glad to see they toned down the arrogance though. Does that necessarily mean that they will succeed? No. Siwon hasn’t after all his attempts so who knows about the rest? It requires a myriad of things in order to find success.

Anyways, all I care about is JYJ. I want them to succeed beyond their expectations and to never settle. They should always prosper and persevere so thank you for requesting them. Fans that help make all the difference.

Just because this person is in a drama… The thing is…. Can this person act??? Just because you are in a drama, does not mean they will overshadow a very good actor. Don’t worry won”t happen. Let them hype, who cares.

That person can’t act to save his life…his acting been forever critisize and make viewers cringe!! His agency is trying so hard to put them in acting…altho some have talent, the rest have none in acting. They’re pushing them to do this, maybe.
Try to compete with our boys who already proven themselve they are good. Nice try sment!

Actually I think most people are aware by now that he isn’t a stellar actor since rather than calling him a wonderful actor they are acknowledging that he is doing well in his role as a pampered and spoiled Hallyu star. He seems to be having fun with this which in turn gives him a more lively performance. There have been criticisms that he doesn’t know when to tone it down especially in serious scenes where he should be expressing anger/sadness etc instead.

hmm.. i always have this kind of feeling that in some ways, JYJ have made all the ego in sm artists increase. It’s like they don’t wanna lose to JYJ. Another things everyone should thanks to JYJ, for stirring up the atmosphere into a more competitive state.
And thank you, this news is a new information to me. I don’t know about his acting skills, but reading from some reviews, so far it was not so favorable. What makes me lost interest in him is his ownself, his own way to express something. I remember what he said during the promotion of his previous drama *cough*headingtotheground*cough*. I forget about the exact statement, but I remember he said something that was really vanishing people’s excitement. He said something that was not so confident about himself. He was asking people to watch his drama despite his lack of skills. Well, maybe he was just trying to be humble, but to me it seems like a total surrender even before the actual game started. If he was being humble, why couldn’t I see any confidence in it? All in all, things may have improved, as maybe he is taking acting class right now? But the original things remain, I’m proud of JYJ, who are always doing/giving their heart, their all, their best in doing any projects, despite how the result would turn out.

      @retrokim
Pampered hallyu star?? I couldn’t agree more. It’s ironic how things turn out to be. All five of them together experienced all the hardships, the struggles to become the top singer in the nation. Only the two of them getting all the glories, titles, praises, performing comfortably in any stages. Yet despite their achievements, JYJ, still have to struggle up until now by themselves.

I was talking about Siwon. I’m pretty sure they were too. I just want to let the Homin thing go. If JYJ have so much ahead of them then why should we be bitter about Homin? Homin can do whatever they want.

Also Yunho isn’t doing any acting right now. From what I have heard he is going to be in a drama scheduled to start in January but that is it.

          December 11, 2012

          @jaedara748, @Cincinn, @JAESOE, @retrokim
OMG!!! Wait a minute!! Are we actually not talking about the same person here? Please tell me, because if we were, that would be so ridiculous on my side, lol.
From the beginning, my comment had been about tvxq’s yunho. Siwon is now filming his drama which has been airing for a month, while Yunho will act in a drama to be aired next month. That’s why I assume that we are talking about the latter, since it is the latest news talking about sm artist’s acting venture.
I guess I sounds bitter about Yunho, right?? Well maybe mine is a slightly bias opinion, but I really think he lacked of confidence back then (considering he played the lead male role in the drama). No major bitter feeling, only sometimes a tiny-bit jealousy over Homin’s ‘comfortable conditions’ in music career.
Yup.. let’s focus on JYJ, support them to continue growing, artistically, financially..

        • retrokim
          December 12, 2012

I understand what you mean. Siwon is the one getting fairly good reviews about his role in “The king of dramas”.
He is playing a rich and spoiled Hallyu star. People who aren’t watching this show are the only ones getting carried away with the praising. Critics note that he has done well but that he still can’t portray serious scenes realistically. He still looks awkward and stilted when he needs to do sad/angry scenes or any scene where he doesn’t need to act like a clown.

Yunho has only acted in “Heading to the Ground”, “Poseidon” and some short movie thing. He didn’t blow anyone away so I don’t see why people care about this upcoming drama. I only found out because I visit Dramawiki daily. Changmin supposedly did some Japanese movie. *shrugs* They and SMTown can try all they want. It is their business.

What I’m a bit bitter about is their ease in promoting their music but believe me, they have nothing else going on for them.

          @retrokim

Regarding Siwon, I think of all the male idols from SM who have gone into acting, he is probably the best of the bunch. That’s not saying much, but he does appear to be getting better with each project.

“Critics note that he has done well but that he still can’t portray serious scenes realistically. He still looks awkward and stilted when he needs to do sad/angry scenes or any scene where he doesn’t need to act like a clown.”

My take on this critique…for so long all the idols have been under SM tutelage, required to prance around in those ‘images/roles’, they are having a hard time breaking away from those molds. I believe there are actually only a couple – Yuri and Sulli who had any real acting props. So, it’s no surprise at the paucity of acting talent under that company.

        • retrokim
          December 12, 2012

I think that in order to be a successful actor you need to NOT be in SME.
Seriously even their supposed “actors” suck. I haven’t seen them in anything good.
Like always SME just wants to expand to suck in more money not because they really know what they are doing.

        • butterfliesarefree2
          December 12, 2012

Something slipped my mind. I was reminded on another post…Kim Ki Bum. He really is the most talented actor from SM’s male idol groups. Since that is all he seems to do now, it is easy to forget he is a member of SJ.

“Something slipped my mind. I was reminded on another post…Kim Ki Bum. He really is the most talented actor from SM’s male idol groups. ”

I watched “Tree With Deep Roots” but honestly, I don’t remember him. That says something, I guess. If an actor really stands out, is memorable, does a performance worth commenting about I remember him. For instance Jin Yi Han in “Dr Jin.” I became a lifelong fan of his with that one drama. It’s happened with other actors too – Song Jong Ho in “Princesses’ Man” and Go Soo in “Will It Snow For Christmas” – one drama was all I needed to make up my mind about these exceptional actors. There have been more of course.

          But Ki Bum…. no recollection.

Now that its getting picked up by media outlets, what is your opinion of what PSY said/preformed in 2004.

Oh, I need to vent. I do view him differently. I personally won’t be supporting him from this point on. I don’t take issues with him being against our government. Its his right to voice his opinion. What upsets me is that he goes on to attack the innocent family members(mothers, daughter, children and daughter-inlaws, fathers) of our servicemen. In his culture/country women are seen as weaker than men, someone to be taken care of. So its upsetting to me, in his context, to target and attack the weak/innocent members of our society. Just because he disagrees with what our government does. If he wants to be upset over the deaths of those two young girls. Fine, be angry and upset with the individual involved. If he is upset over the deaths of his countrymen who were killed by insurgents. Fine, be angry at the people who killed your citizens. But to seek violence and torture of innocent people that had nothing to do with those deaths, that I cannot accept. But I guess he had no problem with America while getting his education from our country. Or raking in his millions from his song. I have a hard time believing that his views changed so drastically in such a short amount of time. To agree to sing a song like that, shows a true sense of hatred. Also, its in bad taste for him to be preformng infront of our President as the closing act. If the Whitehouse doesn’t request it, he should at least remove himself from that preformance.

I guess I take his words to heart because I’m a sister of two miltary men. I also work at a VA hospital. I’m constantly reminded of what these guys have sacrificed. What we and many other families have had to sacrificed as well for this nation. Our guys/women have been given much in return. However, it feels rude and heartless when someone goes on to attack our family(military). Has he forgotten the servicemen who died a little over 60 years go to protect his nation. Or the current 30,000 soliders stationed there acting as shield from North Korea’s crazy leaders.

I just read the news this mornin. And I’m with you on this, It’s not like I’m a big fan of him but just the fact that he did something that huge make me want to support him..and I do enjoy the song at first before got tired of it..haha

And still a lot of American think it’s no big deal…it happened ages ago and we need to forgive him and blah..blah..
I read the comments on yahoo and found some also very angry specially from military people.
His words on torturing and killing them slowly thing was bad and this made me upset.

Obama being critisized for attending this concert. If I’m Psy, I should just cancel the performance out of respect for American people who against him. Public appology is surely not enough. Some see it just for PR to save his face.

please lets not get our panties in a bunch! People have done STUPID things in their past that when they get in the spotlight or get older are sorry about. During the Vietnam war a lot of people, ordinary and in the Hollywood spotlight spoke out against the U.S.. Then going way back U.S citizens spoke out about WW2. Those people were blacklisted, meaning you could not work in Hollywood or any Government position. You have to understand that whenever there is a war and the U.S. is involve there will always be people who will talk major shit, or do and participate in anti U.S. rhetoric. His actions happened 8 and 10 years ago. Many people that have spoken out against America even American citizens are forgiven for their past actions.FORGIVENESS…. If the Psy still felt that way he would be a Activist, but he is not….. I wish I could be more eloquent with my words. But I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

hmm, I watch a few of them, but not as much as I would like because of work and school. >_< I like Cinderella's Stepsister. It's definitely an emotional roller coaster because of the drama within the family. I wouldn't necessarily call it my favorite. My mind has just went blank now that I'm trying to think of the names of the dramas I watch. haha. I'll have to reply later. XD

daily dramas are fun because most are just about simple family story’s and cheese couples .. but most don’t require much “acting” and are really long 70 ep at least .
I can only watch KBS ones (KBS world ) before I boycotted their ass ..and another one that has some older dramas in English … don’t know much about MBC and SBS daily dramas though .
I don’t have much of a favorite … just wanted to see other peoples fave .
        Cinderella’s stepsister isn’t really a daily drama right ?
umm yoona’s You Are My Destiny is a daily drama (but not a good one thought)

Comment to those talking about PYS: I don’t have a problem with him. With what he said awhile back, like he said, people do things, say things at a moment when things are hot and later regret it… that seems like one of those time. I like some of his songs and others are okay. Music is music, don’t make it a personal issue.

    Dear JYJ-Family ^^

I’ve promised to write a fan account of XIA Junsu’s concert in Oberhausen/Germany…it is my first ever written fan account, so I apologize in advance if it is not good and for my English skills, since I am not a native speaker ^^ I will do my best to write it as detailed as possible…so here we go (^_^)v

On the day of the concert I arrived at approx. 3pm at the venue, which was really easy to find. There were already a lot of people standing in their lines, waiting patiently. A few days before I’ve read that there were even a few fans camping in front of the venue, KUDOS (!!!), because it was freezing, I hope that they are not sick now.
However, there were soooooo many ppl from around the world to see Junsu (France, Netherland, Turkey, Portugal or Brazil, Japan). It was an amazing feeling to see that he is so much loved from fans, that they came from this far away to see him live ^^ the JYJ family is indeed a wonderful one ^^ Btw, I saw the Turkish ladies arriving, they were welcomed very enthusiastically from some girls, it was a lovely scene.
Outside the venue some posters from the JYJ-fanclubs around the world were hung up and a few girls were distributing pink heart-shaped stencils with XIA written on it and the blue light sticks for “Uncommitted”.
While waiting outside I’ve got to know some Japanese ladies and also Korean girls, I literally was surrounded by Asian ppl, so that I’ve sometimes forgotten that I was actually in Germany >_<

Punctually at 6.30pm the doors opened and the crowd started to move into the building. I have to say it was really relaxing compared to other concerts I've been, partially maybe because the line for the fans with Gallery tickets wasn't that long, but overall the atmosphere was really good, no pushing or such as far as I know. After been checked I walked into the concert hall and went to the first floor, searching for a good spot of course. In the end I was right next to the press area and on top of that a girl let me stand in front of her, because she's taller than me, I was very thankful ^^

It was quite interesting to observe the reporters, they were watching the crowd on the ground, there reactions, they took pictures of them and the reporters at the lower press area – there were two, one at the first Gallery floor I was standing and a second one like at the 0,5 floor ^^ – however, those on the lower floor were interviewing some fans. The boy who would later dance with Junsu on stage danced with some of his friends (I guess) before the show began, maybe practicing ^^ I don't know.
I've read that Nurdan wrote in her fan account that she might have seen the father of Junsu in the press area at the first floor, I however haven't seen him.

At 7.10pm the MV for Tarantallegra started and immediately everyone in the concert hall began to scream enthusiastically and some were surprised, thinking that the concert already started.
After a while a second time the MV for Tarantallegra has been played and the crowd was hyped and ready for the show. The lights went out and then the intro started to play at the big screen, mermaid Junsu appeared ^^
The music for "Breath" began to play after the intro ended, the dancers came out and then finally Junsu himself. His dancing was so powerful; you could literally feel the energy coming from him, it was amazing. The second song was "No Gain", beautifully sang. After singing "No Gain" he greeted the fans in German, he was so cute and his pronunciation was pretty good, I've understood everything he said very well without thinking twice what he meant to say. The following songs were "Lullaby", then "Intoxication", oh my, to see him performing this live and knowing the meaning of the lyrics, seeing him dancing, ehm well, yeah… then "Set Me Free", which I love very much, I was dancing along as far as I could since I didn't want to disturb the fans behind me, so that they can see him too ^^
I don't remember the exact order of the songs, but I think it was after "Set Me Free" that Junsu took a break and a video of him practicing for the Tarantallegra-MV has been shown (I think it was from the Concert DVD maybe?) and I felt so overwhelmed and proud and felt so much love for him and respect.
After that he came out again wearing a new costume and sang "You are so Beautiful" for us… I just realized at the concert that Junsu sings so many ballads and since this evening I am listening to his ballads all the time. On my way home (1,5h) I was listening and singing along (kind of) to "I Don't Like Love"…it was like being surrounded by him and his voice….ehem, sorry… I got distracted while writing this… I'm focusing again, sorry ^^

Anyway, after singing "You are so Beautiful" he did another "Junsu time", the famous granting of three wishes.
The first fan Junsu picked was a boy (the above mentioned one), who wanted to dance with him, a part of the Tarantallegra dance, he came up on the stage, both a little bit shy and awkward. Junsu was impressed by the boys dancing skills and asked where he learned the dance so well; the boy answered that he learned it from the internet. The boy then bowed deeply and went off stage to his friends who welcomed him happily, they jumped around, it was sooo cute to watch that, Junsu watched this scene too, he was brightly smiling (and I am right now too, because of the memories popping up in my mind ^^).
The second wish was from a girl; she wanted him to sing the song "Tears of heaven" from his second musical, which he did, hearing his voice singing a capella was just amazing, nothing less.
For the third wish another girl wanted him to sing again, but he was telling us that he just sang and that she maybe want him to do something else instead (of course he was very nice)…well, it was obvious that all fans requested the Angel Pose… he smiled brightly and shy at the same time hearing the wish… he acted very cute and shy, hesitated to do the Angel Pose, but finally did it very fast, you could see that it was a bit embarrassing for him. I don't know what was cuter, the hesitance, him being shy or the Angel Pose ^^

During the show Junsu really watched the crowd vigilantly on the ground, the gallery… he was very curious to see the reactions of the fans and it could be clearly seen that he was so happy that we all showed him so much love and support. I still remember the look on his face while standing and watching everyone. This is one of my favorite memories of this concert. He was also watching the reporters from time to time btw.

After the second "Junsu Time" he sang "Though I Already Know" and "Around and Around", then he went out again to change his outfit and while he was gone another video has been played, showing his tour so far.
He returned and began to sing songs from musicals, first "Last Dance" from the musical "Elisabeth" and "I am Music" from the musical Mozart, which is my absolute favorite one … it was the only time I had tears in my eyes because of the lyrics (*¯︶¯*) .He ended the musical part with two other songs and went off stage again, so that his dancers could take off after him… The dancers were really amazing, they danced so lively and hyped the whole audience up, everyone was dancing and jumping along ^^
Eventually the last part started with Tarantallegra, I think the song was really eagerly awaited, the screaming’s were the loudest of the whole evening when Junsu was shown whispering on the big screen… after that he performed "Fever".
Sometimes the view wasn't that good because of a reporter standing and blocking our sight ^^ so him sitting in the chair I wasn't able to see. Finally the time for "Uncommitted" came and the blue ocean appeared ^^
I don't remember that good about the rest… After "Uncommitted" he took again time to talk to/with us, told us that he was at the Christmas market and that he liked the atmosphere there, he also said that he is amazed that the fans are singing along and asked if we were enjoying the show. Before he started to sing "I Don't Like Love" he mentioned that this song has a really special meaning for him, his expression was serious while he said that, but I didn't understand why, does anyone?, I surely missed something again, anyway the next song was "A Tree Covered in Dew" and suddenly silver paper streamer popped out of nowhere and then white confetti, it almost looked like snow, it was so beautiful, even the reporters were surprised.
The show was officially over, but nobody wanted to go, the whole concert hall shouting "I love You" in Korean and so Junsu returned to sing "Fallen Leaves" for us.
After the bonus song, sadly the concert ended… Junsu was standing on stage, watching everyone and then bowed deeply for almost a minute, it was so touching, but touching actually isn't the right word, I felt so much respect for him and love, not biased or "I want to marry him love", just simply love… I guess you know what I mean.
Fans in the first few rows bowed deeply too and I myself did the best I could to bow as deep as I could, since I was standing behind the railing. Junsu went off stage and the show was over, a sad but at the same time happy feeling, sad because it was over and happy, because I had the privilege to see him singing live.
I haven't waited outside for him…but I saw a van from the "Parkhotel Oberhausen" driving away when I went to the car and was wondering who this might be.

Sorry, I haven't made any pictures since I, 1. don't have a camera and 2. never take pictures, because I always concentrate on watching the show and because of that I always forget to make some.

Please note that these were my impressions of the evening and of Junsu ^^ so it may be wrong or only how I saw it.
I hope you enjoyed the reading and sorry for my English (^_^)/

Lots of Love to the JYJ family ^^

Thank you so much for your fanaccount. Hearing about your reactions to Junsu’s concert was indeed heartwarming. He does bring out the best in people. His talent is so amazing, it causes you to be mesmerized. One thing I’ve noticed at a JYJ/Junsu concert, people enjoy being around others who are there for the same reason. It’s like getting an infection of sorts. :-)

An artist who can bring a concert to the stage with minimal flair and glitz, simply a voice, dancing skills and charm out the wahzoo, is an artist worth seeing. Your mind doesn’t get cloudy with unnecessary images. You said yourself, you found yourself humming on the way home.

For yourself and all the others around the world who had a chance to see Junsu live, including myself, this is just the beginning. I’m sure the future holds great things for him and the other members of JYJ. There simply is too much talent, not to share with the rest of the world.

No apologies needed for English language skills. You got your message across very well. ;-) Thank you again for sharing.

Thank you very much for your kind words ^^ It makes me happy that you like the FA ^^

I love too that his music brings ppl together ^^ I hope I will have the opportunity
to experience this feeling again next year, perhaps with JYJ? ^^ and hopefully one day in Korea too ^^

He was the bright star in the dark on stage ^^

I’ve the same opinion, there will be a lot more for them in the future and 2013 will be THE year of JYJ ^^

Anyway, thank you again for reading and that you’ve liked it…I’m glad that my feelings were understood ^^
