The year of 2012 means a lot for JYJ′s Kim Junsu. It was a year in which his feats as a member of his group and as a solo singer both prospered.
This year he released his first solo album, successfully led a world tour with his name on it and as a musical actor, won the Best Actor Award.
While his fellow JYJ members Park Yoo Chun and Kim Jae Joong took on acting, Kim Junsu led a successful career as a singer despite his inability to appear on TV to perform.
In a meeting with enews at Germany, his last destination in his world tour, Kim Junsu said he had felt “half scared, half excited” about the decision to release his first solo album. It was a big challenge for him to release a full-length album in such difficult conditions.
His concerns, however, turned out to be for nothing. His first album Tarantallegra managed to receive favorable reviews thanks to the variety of online marketing methods and his strong fan base. He even managed to draw up his courage to launch a world tour alone.
The tour first started off as an Asia tour in six countries. He first set sail with a total of 35,000 people, gathered across Seoul, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. He then traveled to New York on August 30 and then went through the Americas, dropping by at L.A., Mexico, Brazil and Chile. Finally on November 30, he topped off with a concert in Germany, and finished the tour that had drawn 53,800 people in total across four continents in 12 cities.
Thanks to his great feats overseas, on December 7, he won an award from international press for spreading awareness of Korea.
Kim Junsu even boasted a strong showing on various charts. Tarantallegra ranked no. 10 on the Billboard World Albums Chart and no. 1 on iTunes Japan and Yinyuetai.
Like he said himself, 2012 was “a meaningful year” for Kim Junsu. It was a year in which he confirmed his status as a leader of K-Pop.

Wow really,,,, even though not having a single perf of his solo album in broadcast in korea, he still managed to do well becoz of his reputation and hard work.
Yes we are all so proud of Junsu!! Hard work and fearlessness, as well as his devotion to do good works is the exact reason why I support all our JYJ boys!
2012 for Junsu started with confirmation of his role for Elisabeth which later got him awarded the highest honor as a musical actor. And it will be wrapped up beautifully by a Solo Concert with full-pledged orchestra which unprecedented in idol realm.
A lot of great things happen in between with some hassles thrown in just enough to make him even stronger and remain humble.
I remember i cried in two different occasions because of Junsu this year, para game and 18th musical awards. There are discriminations, humiliation, unfairness that he still have to face in his way, but in the other hand those things made his achievement even more fulfilling. I am glad i was able to witness (even only through my comp screen) all the awesomeness that is Kim Junsu in 2012.
I share ur sentiment…personally, 2012 is the most wonderful year of my-fangirl-life (Junsu solo album is such a great treat that I always waiting for XD) …n to be able to witness all amazing things that happen to Junsu makes my heart fall for him even more…he can turn the bad things into blessings…n I def need to learn his positive outlook cuz he surely is doing his best despite of having to face many obstacles…
All in all, proud of his never-ending list of achievements this year so much that I can’t stop smiling ^^

Junsu showed a lot of courage in going solo thru his 2012 solo tour; even with his doubts he pushed forward and made a magnificent showing of his talents and pure character. Supporting Junsu and Jae and Chunnie, as a fan, has been my Joy<333

I’m glad Junsu’s concerns “turned out to be for nothing”, as stated in this article, but that didn’t make his worries any less real. And yet, Junsu is not one to do things haphazardly, i’m sure he didn’t just wake up one morning and decide to release a solo album. He took a calculated risk after weighing the possible outcomes, and then took that step of faith. Thank you Junsu for believing in yourself and in your fans.

Yes, August 30 in New York City, I was there to see how amazing Xiah was in concert! He was absolutely captivating! So glad he has such a successful year! Wish more Xiah power in 2013…and Happy Birthday to you, Junsu…only 5 more days! Now the sky is the limit! Fighting!

i really like junsu’s story (and jyj’s of course) because it shows that perseverance, hard work, and kind heart still prevails over evil people and bad circumstances.
i hope in 2013 more powerful things will happen for junsu. JYJ only and for always, fighting!
