[NEWS] 130102 Kim Jaejoong, ‘Homme Fatale’ solo teaser image… fatal beauty

January 3, 2013 · JYJ3 Team

Kim Jaejoong’s album cover teaser for his first solo mini-album has been released.

The photos were released on JYJ’s official FB account (http://www.facebook.com/CJESJYJ) and has garnered a hot response.

In the photo, Kim Jaejoong’s eyes were closed but did not reveal the hairstyle and outfit. C-jes entertainment said, “Kim Jaejoong wrote the lyrics of all the songs in his album. His solo album contained everything about his life and music. The published photo depicts a sense of happiness and sadness at the same time which reflects Kim Jaejoong as an artist.”

In another photo, you can see a glimpse of the props and costumes used, like the leopard pattern jackets with funky style. Expectations have increased with the release of the photos.

C-jes said, “The album cover concept is “fatal beauty” and Kim Jaejoong has produced an outstanding result.”

“For the rock genre concept, he opted for the avant garde style instead of metallic or cool props. The luxurious and mysterious image of Kim Jaejoong has produced a unique fashion using innovative prints and patterns.”,he added.

Kim Jaejoong’s album will be released on the 17th and before that, the MV teaser will be released.

On the other hand, he will have a mini-concert/fanmeeting called ‘Your, My, and Mine’ to be held on Jan 26-27 at KINTEX Ilsan. Selling of tickets will be on Jan 7. Booking information can be found at Interpark.

UPDATE (comments by K-netizens):-

The solo album teaser has gotten me excited for the album. Had anticipated a rock album after listening to a Japanese song Maze. Kim Jaejoong fighting! [+148, -12]

Fatal beauty indeed! [+147, -17]

Wow…cool [+128, -15]

    Ever since I’m into minimalism and if Jaejoong will ask me if I like these teasers (eyeshades/eyelashes/laces/leopard), I’ll be honest to him and say NO, (of course what I like is insignificant), hope there will be a 180-degree twist and I will be crazily in love with the final product.

      I have to agree. Jae is already beautiful without all the distracting embellishments. It could also be that I’m more used to western rock, which is not so much about visuals.

      It’s a bit selfish on my part, but I’d like to be able to show the album to non-kpop fans without getting the reaction “he looks like a girl.” :/

        indeed he really doesn’t need makeup to show his good looks ..and I was hoping to let some of my friends see his album ( they actually liked some of JYJ’s works) since they love rock music the most .
        I’m going to wait and see .

    Wow, fatal beauty indeed! Jaejoong has always been beautiful/handsome so it takes little efforts to make him look this fabulous. There’re many ways for a rocker to express himself as well as his music. It’s fine if some of you want a simple typical rocker image, but if Jaejoong himself wants to use a more extravagant concept for his album, let him. After all, he’s the professional here and shouldn’t we respect his artistic freedom? One can’t satisfy everyone else and no matter what JYJ members do, there’s bound to have some fans complaining. It’s become a routine.

    If ignorant bigots can’t see past any artistic concept they choose to deem as gay or effeminate, without seeing or considering there might be something deeper at play, that’s their loss. Likewise to fans who are so worried about what their “friends” might say or think that they choose to hide their love of JYJ & Jaejoong like it’s some terrible, shameful secret to be a JYJ fan. (& seriously, if your friends shame or embarrass you for what you like, or what’s important to you, are they really true or good friends???) I’ve been hoping & dreaming of a Jaejoong rock solo album ever since I first heard Maze, & now that my dream has come true, I’m not going to let any wet-blankets or doubting Thomas’s throw their gloom & pessimism over my joy, anticipation & excitement. Maybe I’ll hate whatever Jaejoong puts out, although from the musical teaser we’ve had, I seriously doubt that. But if I do, I’ll wait until I’ve heard & seen the songs & any MV’s he does in full, before I start saying I don’t like it.

          January 2, 2013

          LOL!!! I don’t listen to SHINee but my cousin does so I try to spare as much words as possible about that group. Don’t wanna hurt her feelings. I know there are people who are private about the music they listen to but she isn’t one of them so to find that she hides their music from her friends and even her family…kinda sad.

          My mom doesn’t care about most of the music I listen to. I used to get really upset when she mocked my favorite musicians but I was…15? 17?….so…at an age when kids take things very seriously and passionately but now? I don’t care if she likes it or not. Strangers have heard JYJ music blasting from my earphones. *shrugs* My mom has ALWAYS known about my predilection towards foreign music so I just don’t give a damn.

    • meme & JYJ
      January 2, 2013 Reply

      what make you think that it ” hiding” because it would make people ashamed to show what they like ?
      is it really that hard to believe that I ( and other) simply don’t find this look that much interesting as you ( and other fans) ?

      I know my friends aren’t that into this kind of style same as me so are we ignorant bigots for not linking it ?
      his music is what matters the most in his whole solo work so why is it that big of a thing to not like the album’s concept .

        @meme

        Sorry Meme, I wasn’t calling you a bigot & I apologize for hurting your feelings & offending you. Maybe I read some comments on the various posts relating to this teaser wrong. I was left with the impression that some fans were worried that Jaejoong’s concept was going to be effeminate or “gay” & that because of that, they were embarrassed or ashamed to share his work with their friends for fear of being mocked. When I used the term “ignorant bigots”, I was referring to people who would automatically label any artistic concept like Junsu’s Tarantallegra or Jaejoong’s eyelashes as “gay” & dismiss the music, or mock the artist because of their own prejudices.

        • meme & JYJ
          January 2, 2013

          I seem to come off wrong … I wasn’t offended at all (I think I know you enough to not misunderstand what you mean ) it just that I personally don’t like too much makeup ..that’s it .
          I’ve always like Jaejoong’s style in Japan more because it was simple yet stylishly gorgeous … so was hoping for something like that .
          and people using gay as a characterization to what they think is not good will always be a problem .. it’s a sexual orientation not people’s term for disliking something or someone .

      ignorant bigots?
      ” Most psychologists and sociologists agree that a person’s traits, including their aesthetic tastes, are largely dependent upon the culture in which that person is raised. This is why different cultures can have very different styles of art, and why people from different cultures often enjoy different types of art. If a person grows up seeing and enjoying a particular type of art, then their tastes and expectations are molded to fit that style. This effect is exemplified in the art of various cultures and time periods. The fine, minimalist style of Japanese art, for example, has always been very different from western art. Additionally, the artistic styles of western art have changed and evolved ever since western society has existed. Different artistic tastes also exist on an intercultural level. For example, many people greatly admire the art of classical painters, while others enjoy more modern art. Some people prefer art which has a meaning or a message, while others enjoy art purely for its aesthetic merits. All of these differences are manifestations of the innate variety of the human race, and are an important part of our nature.” (http://library.thinkquest.org)

      And not liking the eyelashes has nothing to do with LOVE and being a true fan or trust issue. In fact as a fan, one should give HONEST feedback and as what everybody not liking the eyelashes/heavy make up is saying, we’ll wait and see the final product, but one thing sure is that if it’s Kim Jaejoong’s music, it must be excellent, those concepts are just for visuals, what counts most is what we hear.

      “If ignorant bigots can’t see past any artistic concept they choose to deem as gay or effeminate, without seeing or considering there might be something deeper at play, that’s their loss.”

      I think there’s a bit of peer pressure at work here but mostly, it’s kids making stupid comments. The internet is rampant with it and it’s nothing new. I’ve often said JYJ (and that includes Jaejoong as a solo artist) doesn’t need every last person in the world to be their fan. The people who can’t hang with who JYJ are are free to go and find artists they enjoy and can relate to. The JYJ fandom is alive and well and growing. Jaejoong in particular is an incredibly complex and driven artist, a creative mind and soulful heart and he will always change and show us something new about himself that perhaps we haven’t glimpsed before. This is what artists do.

      I feel kind of sad for those fans who have been brought up believing in the Idol Group Mindset and who think that the music, the acts that the big SK entertainment companies dish out to them, all market researched, designed and engineered like any other sort of product rolling off an assembly line, is the real and valuable thing. That’s just not how great music and art that will last is created.

    Ok! I’ve read some posts concerning JJ’s make up. I’m sorry but, who the hell is SO ignorant to consider his make up gay?? ¡No way! ¡ I can’t imagine a person who likes asian music and doesn’t know a word about VISUAL KEI !! Again the same problem! If the man decides to use some kind of notorius make up; BAM! He’s gay!! This can’t continue anymore. IT ENDS HERE AND NOW!!! Any of JYJ men are THE MOST MASCULINE MAN you can find in the k-pop music industry (besides Bi Rain of course, LOL). I don’t want to read ANYTHING regarding his sexual orientation based on his make up!! This is RATHER OFFENSIVE towards Jaejoong and towards his fans and only shows the regretful state of IGNORANCE in which the person who dares to post such bad intended opinions lives. End of rant!! :/

        Rather, what I would say is “It’s just SOOOOO….Jaejoong!” Sooner or later, fans are going to have to let the man be who he is.
        He’s not like other people, he’s not comparable to anyone else – he’s himself and he’s an artist. Can people not see that there is an ARITSTIC CONCEPT at work here?? You may not like it, you may not get it. Art is like that. But as the old saying goes, “Art is in the eye of the beholder.” Shehuilove, you and I have accepted Jaejoong into our hearts as the artist that he is, no more and no less. That is why we are able to appreciate him in all of his various incarnations.

          @Lilibaiyu

          Dearest, it seems not. I don’t know why, but many people seems to lack the proper knowledge and experience to distinguish a concept, in this case (as in Junsu’s), an androgin concept that has NOTHING to do with their sexual inclinations. So sad indeed. Their art isn’t being appreciated as it is; a wonderful talent; God’s gift. All this due to a little make-up, some artistical fake eye-lashes and uncommon androgin clothes. Their natural gorgeousness has nothing to do :(

      Sorry but I think they are far from being “the most masculine men you can find in the Kpop music industry” (at least Jaejoong and Junsu) lol
      It doesn’t make them gay though. Masculinity has not a lot to do with homosexuality, lot of gay men are very masculine (and even if JYJ liked men, who cares ? I don’t think it should be important for us..)

      • shuheilove
        January 6, 2013 Reply

        @Clara Chen

        How old are you? It seems you are very young. Who said the masculinity of a man can be measured based on his looks? For me they are truly masculine. Why? Becaused they have faced life and trouble like a real man does. They’ve taken care of each and every ugly and sad issue that have crossed their path with courage, responsibility and wisdom. Besides, each and every time they perform on the stage, each and every time they interact with the dancers, they ooze masculine hormones everywhere, they ooze masculine sensuality, they ooze masculine hotness and desire. They make women feel attracted to them. A man can be beautiful, but if he’s gay, a true experienced woman is able to perceive that and he turns to be beautiful ( as many korean idols are) but not attractive AS MEN to women. A gay man is not able to interact with women in a truly convincing way; it simply looks fake.

          @shuheilove

          I always think of the American movie star Rock Hudson when we broach this subject. A more thoroughly manly specimen of manhood you could not find. When, in his 50s, he finally announced he was gay everyone could hardly believe it. He proved that in reality there is NO stereotype of manly male or feminine traited male that actually predicts true sexual preference. It’s been my own experience that just in general, young males today are far more comfortable expressing their feminine sides, which btw is very healthy psychologically.

          Well dear, that’s true. And yes, nowadays is even more difficult to determine the sexual inclinations of the younglins. Then I must say, let them be as they want to be and love them as they are :D

          I think it goes without saying that we can not tell the members how to be, how to look or how to act. All we can do is observe and then decide, “Is this someone worth watching? Worth following? Worth listening to?” If anyone of us swooped down like the Gods and started changing things about Jaejoong he wouldn’t be Jaejoong anymore, he wouldn’t be his authentic self. I wouldn’t like that even if my particular sensibilities felt more comfortable with the new altered version of Jaejoong. I want to observe the original unadulterated version. And only Jaejoong can change that for himself.

      it’s fine to say just accept him for what he is….but you can’t outright deny the gay undertones this concept image. The eyeshadow, eyelashes and lipstick are all what I would emphasize to be fairly feminine. Furthermore, the whole ‘homme fatale’ = ‘fatal beauty’ is really just the male version of ‘femme fatale’, and with it carry a lot of homosexual innuendos as well. I wouldnt declare him outright gay based on this, but certainly does leave me the impression that he has slightly feminine tendencies and I could see how the general public could construe as ‘gay’. Basically, Jaejoong knew what he was doing when he chose this “sexy seductive” concept. Jaejoong fans know that he’s dated women before, …..but I’ve always been of the opinion that he could be bisexual. Certainly doesnt change what I think of his talent though

        I carefully read your entire post. My comment is…So? Really, I didn’t get the point of it. Maybe my comment should really be …So what? I embrace Jaejoong for the artist/singer/songwriter/performer/personality that he is. Is his sexuality any of my concern? Of course not. That’s his business.

          really…i wasnt replying to you. It was more so directed at shuhei and other fans who outright deny the possibility of their homosexuality. all you did was reiterate the point i was trying to get across; I already said that their orientation doesn’t affect how I felt about their talents.

          Oh, I apologize for popping into the middle of a conversation that didn’t include me. I have a habit of doing that on the ODP when I feel I have something to add to the discussion. :-) I wasn’t offended by your comments. Perhaps I’m being a bit sensitive to labeling Jaejoong in such a way that many cultures besides ours would feel is offensive and I think, unfair. We are an international group here – we do not all think the same way nor do our cultures react the same way. In Korea, they tell me, being outed as a gay man would be very detrimental to an artist’s career. So my attitude is to avoid any labeling of that sort here, one way or the other. If the whole saesang mess taught us one thing it’s that these young men need and deserve a private life – they do not need fans peering into every corner of their lives and then publishing their findings online! We love jaejoong, we want his happiness and I would hope the creative space and freedom from anxiety to just be who he is. That’s the best environment for an artist to grow in.

        aren’t concepts in k-pop just a stage image for most ( if not all) performer in mainstream music in Korea ?
        I mean how can it really reflect who a person is when you see it been a trend with only a hand full of fashion and style being repeated and reduplicate with everyone in k-pop .
        the eye makeup for example is on everyone that even hip hop artists like Epik High are seen with it .
        if the new thing was shaved hair and Military uniforms don’t you think we’d see everyone looking like that?

        I don’t know how much Jaejoong ( or Junsu)has put in choosing his concept or how much thought went into it .. I just know I care more about what his song’s will be like because that’s where he will be himself more .
        but I do have my own opinion on the image of the album concept and like I said I didn’t like it that much because I prefer a simple look … that all .

        Is he straight? Is he gay? Is he bi? IT DOESN’T MATTER AT ALL, I LOVE HIM AS HE IS !!!! But show me a reliable source of proof. If you’re using such a poor arguments as his make-up, his clothes, the concept he chose for his album; sorry but I CAN’T AGREE. I’m old and experienced enough both in life and in asian musical concepts; if he chose such a “beautiful” “fairy-like” “feminine-like” (according to your words) concept, that DOESN’T SCARE NOR SUPRISES ME! On the contrary, I am DELIGHTED! Is that a proof of his sexual inclinations? NO! It’s just a concept, it’s just a korean kind of VISUAL KEI ! HA ! Are all those japanese men who dress theirselves as women, very beautiful by the way (MANA; HIZAKI for example) gays? NO ! It’s just the visual kei concept they use to perform in the stage ! And any ignorant man takes them as pretty women ! I’ve witnessed that ! My comment is really a protest ! I’m sick of people taking them as gays just because they choose ANDROGIN CONCEPTS for their albums. Exactly the same happened when Junsu released his “Tarantallegra”. The same child-like foolish comments. I’m sorry but this kind of comments only shows the great amount of ignorance and the narrow mind of the ones who write those. This kind of comments ARE OF NO USE ! DO YOU THINK THIS IS GOING TO HELP THEM TO DEVELOP THEIR ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES IN ANY WAY? NO !!! You have to learn to leave your moral and cultural prejudices aside, because your post is a consequence of that kind of prejudices, no doubt. Where are you from? How old are you? You still have a lot to live and to learn about life and about asian culture little one.
        And, as my dearest @Lilibaiyu wrote; his sexual inclinations are HIS BUSSINESS, NOT OURS. End of story.
