I think Jaejoong is defying the misconception that he’s just popular and his fans love him primarily because of his good look.
And since this is his first solo release, he’s building fans’ enthusiasm for his mini album not through visuals but through his vocal abilities as was shown on his first studio teaser belting those high notes. And release One Kiss without an aid of an MV, to focus more on his singing without the distraction of visual aids, we love the song just by purely listening to it, and non-fans/haters now know that he can sing.
I think it’s a great idea, normally a comeback/debut is introduced with an MV of the carrier single, but what happen now, example in Allkpop (usually a warzone and bashing field), people are just talking about the song and the singing, no war about the concept/outfit/make-up/dancing/etc which usually happen which overshadow the most important element which is the quality of the singer and the song. So by the time Jae’s MV will come out, at least there’s already a preconditioning that this man can sing.
agree 100% and jaejoong is only but a handful of korean artists that can do this on the strength of his singing talent alone……
