Word is out that JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong is increasingly becoming known as the “Weekend Boyfriend.”
This past weekend on the 26th, Dr. Jin’s first broadcast was shown. From his “flower-like officer” appearance down to his pure sincere heart, Jaejoong’s devilish charms seemed to have caught the hearts of many female fans. Even prior to the show’s first broadcast, expectations for his performance were already rising.
A picture of Kim Jaejoong that was disclosed to the public showed a glimpse of his character’s martial arts skills as well as his competitive spirit. Furthermore, his sincere love for Hong YongRae (played by Park MinYoung) as well as his strong masculinity was also able to be felt. Read More →
Note: This is a review written by a noteworthy Korean blogger and avid TV drama critic.
Until recently, I have been falling for time slip rooftop prince. And then, since an another time slip drama, Dr.Jin, was going to be aired, I was waiting for it with expectations. But when I watched this drama, what I thought was “What~ is this?!”
Why didn’t my expectations rise toward Song Seunghun and Park Minyoung but toward Lee Bumsoo and Kim Jaejoong? By any chance, are Lee Bumsoo and Kim Jaejoong the leading actors of this drama?
Well, I don’t ever think about blaming Song Seunghun’s acting skills. I understand that he is acting as a man of modern time, who travels back to Joseon Dynasty. However, I can’t help thinking, “Why is he so superficial?”
Park Minyoung doesn’t stand out either. Instead of seeing 2 different individuals from modern time and from the Joseon Dynasty, I only see Park Minyoung.
I don’t have expectations in Song Seunghun and Park Minyoung. It’s just a story about a cold-blooded doctor becoming a doctor who respects the life; and two men competing over a woman. This is also what Dr.Jin must solve in the future. But in fact, wasn’t it all revealed already? What should they do? Cold-blooded doctor turning into a doctor who respects the life, it was already solved in epsode 2. The loveline of two men competing over one woman, that, well.. I don’t think I’ll watch that with great expectations. Because all [this storyline] was already drawn out in my head.

Song Seung-heon, Park Min-yeong and Kim Jae-joong foresaw an unfortunate three-way romance.
In the episode of the MBC drama “Dr. JIN” aired on the 27th this weekend, Kim Kyeong-tak (Kim Jae-joong) became miserable the more Jin Hyeok (Song Seung-heon) and Hong Yeong-rae (Park Min-yeong) got close.
Hong Yeong-rae started feeling interested in Jin Hyeok who not only saved her brother, Hong Yeong-hwi’s life but had mysterious medical skills. Moreover, his pitiful situation moved her more and made hercare about him.
Jin Hyeok was also pulled towards Hong Yeong-rae who looked like his modern day fiancé Yoo Mina (Park Min-yeong). He repeated what Yoo Mina had said before, about there being ‘another self in the parallel universe’ and weakened for Yeong-rae.
However, Kim Kyeong-tak became more and more miserable the closer they got. He loves Kim Byeong-hee (Kim Eung-soo) despite the fact that he was being used.
He knew very well but that this was not the right path and that his father’s love for him wasn’t right. This emptiness was filled by Yeong-rae’s warmth and he felt a connection with her but she was sharing her feelings with someone else.
In ‘Dr. Jin’, Kim Jaejoong plays the role of Kim Kyung Tak, who possesses firm beliefs and strong mindset, using his charismatic period accent. Just like how the director praised on the press conference, Kim Jaejoong showed multiple aspect of Kim Kyung Tak’s character well in episode 1 and 2, such as the strictness of a cold officer and the warmheartedness of a fiancee. He used his eyes filled with rich emotions and expressed the complicated thoughts of Kim Kyung Tak, which really completed the drama. Read More →
