Music group JYJ is all the rage lately in Japan. The group’s second album, which was released in July, topped Japan’s Tower Record music chart. JYJ’s agency says it’s unprecedented for a music album to beat local artists and top music charts even before it officially goes on sale in Japan.
JYJ ranked number one on Tower Records’s monthly chart in Japan.
JYJ’s second full length album Just Us, which was released in Korea in July, ranked number one on Tower Record’s monthly chart for August.
According to an affiliate, as JYJ’s 2014 Asia tour has not confirmed the cities in Japan yet, the Japanese fans have been constantly making requests for JYJ to visit their cities.
On top of that, 2014 JYJ Membership Week that was launched on July 31 gathered over 4,000 fans from Japan and over 2,000 fans flew in from Japan to attend Kim Jae Joong’s drama Triangle fan meeting.
Park Yoo Chun’s I Miss You fan meeting in Japan recorded competitive ticketing odds of 5:1, while Kim Junsu’s Musical and Ballad concert that was held in Tokyo and Osaka in May gathered a total of 63,000 fans.
An affiliate of JYJ stated, “It is a surprising record that JYJ, who still has limitations on promoting its albums in Japan, ranked number one on Tower Records’ monthly chart, beating out other Japanese artists. The Japanese fans’ continual support for JYJ has also been gathering interest from numerous affiliates in Japan.”
JYJ is currently carrying out its Asia tour The Return of the King, starting with Jamsil concert on August 9, and will be presenting the 5th concert in Chengdu, China on September 6.
