Avex’s CEO Matsuura Masato, after receiving a flood of flaming tweets that even gave others cold sweat, closed his twitter account. Matsuura who was angered by the arguments of a small number of civilians said, “Because they are people who will not stop until they achieve what they want, I apologize” he left that as his last statement.
What started this matter is the trouble with Tohoshinki’s fans that occurred over and over. The problem involved JYJ who are in the middle of a lawsuit, where one of the songs they created in the past was covered by a Chinese singer and uploaded onto Youtube. The possibility that it was done with authorization from Avex angered JYJ fans. Even when Matsuura denied (T/N: Avex’s involvement) the fans’ attacks did not stop.
Then, (Matsuura wrote) “I’m an idiot for answering you (T/N: literally facing you) but it seems like I’ll become stupid (T/N: if I continue) so I’ll just stop ~explodes laughing~.” Further stirring up the matter, he replied to people who were telling him “I don’t want you to stop” with “JYJ’s this and that (T/N: uses “this and that” which is a slang expression to call JYJ fans) want me to stop ~smile~.” His tweets agitated JYJ fans further. Finally on the 20th of July the Twitter account was erased.
In short, Mr. Matsuura wanted to say that “because of civilians’ protests/arguments I got angry and decided to stop” but since he is now being judged on his case of threatening and blackmailing there are other opinions on why he quit Twitter. “Because of his unfavorable position as the ‘accused’ he has to refrain from making careless speeches and statements. This level of trouble stirring (T/N: literally flaming) is usual for Mr. Matsuura so, he probably decided the timing of his departure (from Twitter) long ago” said a person with relations to a variety show and many others shared this opinion.
(Note: Matsuura is being accused of imprisoning and threatening Avex shareholders)
Furthermore, nowadays it is not rare for famous celebrities to create a blog or a Twitter account. This opinion was expressed by reporters who checked these blogs and Twitter every day.
“It is usually Avex that uses mass communication to apply pressure, but even if Mr. Matsuura tweeted something great, it’s rare for his tweets to amount to printed articles. Although his account is an account that must always be checked, it was difficult to make (its contents) interesting for it was that kind of a bothersome account ~smile~” (a reporter of a Sports Magazine).
It was a sad little account that never delivered interesting jokes. Voices are rising from the business world anticipating the “Post Matsuura Twitter”.
“Concerning people who carelessly drop bombs of content on the internet, to tell the truth, it’s a privileged position. But when a person reaches a high position such as Mr. Matsuura’s, they do not wish for that carelessness. Being able to joke about the drinking habits of Exile’s Hiro saying, ‘There is an entertaining rumor about Aya-chan’ is something that people on the level of Softbank’s CEO’s Mr. Son can do.” (Reporter)
Even though there is a possibility that after the lawsuit (T/N: against Matsuura) is safely over, Matsuura will be revived, but until then the Twitter account that caused so much trouble will take a rest.
