[INFO] Jaejoong wins the Hottest Male Artist Award for the 2nd time in the Philippines KPOP Convention.
FYI: Kpop Convention in the Phillipnes is the event where different KPOP fandom in the country gather together. Different KPOP artists are nominated each year in different categories. Fans were given about a month to vote through SMS for free.
It was my first time to attend the Philippine K-Pop Convention, since I only got interested in K-Pop last October by watching Protect The Boss. From that, you’ll realize that I’m a JYJ fan. I went to the event in hopes of buying some JYJ merchandise and to find out if Kim Jaejoong will bag the award as “Hottest Male Artist for 2011,” after voting for him everyday.
Megatent was packed with hundreds of fangirls and fanboys, and the booths were categorized according to fan clubs and shops. In every fan club, you can play games and have a chance to win some prizes if you win. Shops offer albums and merchandise that come from Korea and some are fan-made here in the Philippines.
Cassiopeia Philippines is the official fanclub of TVXQ here in the Philippines. They brought in standees of Jaejoong and Yoochun. My friends and I didn’t miss the opportunity to take pictures with the standees. It was amazing how all the fans wanted to take pictures, and they screamed with delight when they see the standees. It was as if the boys themselves were there in person.
I asked Cass PH where Junsu’s standee is located, and one of them answered me apologetically, “We left it at someone’s house.” I tweeted Cass PH about it this, and they immediately answered, “He’s still practicing for Elisabeth kaya he can’t make it daw.” (He’s still practicing for Elisabeth, that’s why he can’t make it.)
Hours after walking around and buying some shirts, albums, and other merchandises with my friends, we decided to watch the program. Finally, it was time for them to announce the results of the 3rd Philippine K-Pop Awards.
Jaejoong was nominated along with 2pm’s Nichkhun, Big Bang’s T.O.P., Jay Park, Kim Hyunjoong, and Super Junior’s Choi Siwon. From the crowd’s cheers, it was obvious that it’s a battle between Jaejoong and Siwon. The crowd went wild cheering for the two men, and when the hosts announced JYJ’s Jaejoong as the winner, a lot of the fans stood up and cheered loudly, as Jaejoong’s standee was brought up to the stage. For this award, Cass PH was given a trophy.
Congratulations Kim Jaejoong for winning two years in a row!
When the program was over, the organizers played the music videos of Get Out and In Heaven. JYJ’s fans sang the songs as loudly as they can. It was really cute how they all attempted to sing the Korean lyrics!
After attending the event, I really wish JYJ would hold a concert or a fan meeting here in the Philippines. They have thousands of fans waiting for them!
