There is the old saying: numbers don’t lie – and judging by the counts of album sales, 2013 is shaping up to be a pretty stellar year for some of most highly regarded K-Pop artists.
According to Instiz, the site that compiles the various charts used to rank music sales in South Korea, these are the top-sellers so far this year.
#3 Jaejoong I
- Release date: January 17, 2013
- Albums sold: 206,740
Apart from working as a member of JYJ (and formerly TVXQ), Jaejoong has had a rather successful solo career. He has collaborated with or been featured on tracks with many other singers and has recorded several singles for TV and movie soundtracks.
I is, however, his first solo EP and it looks like it was long overdue. The mini-album debuted at the top of both the Hanteo and Gaon charts in Korea and broke pre-order records in Japan. It also topped the iTunes rock charts in nine different countries. It also debuted at number teo on the Billboard World Albums chart.
To celebrate the album’s release, Jaejoong held a special concert in Ilsan, South Korea on January 26 and 27, which also happened to coincide with his birthday. Sixteen thousand fans came out to celebrate with the singer and all the seats to the show sold out in record time.
Also selling out quickly, the repackaged version of the album, titled Y, sold out all 50,000 copies within 24 hours.
The lead single, “One Kiss,” was released digitally ahead of the EP on January 8 and topped iTunes charts across Asia and the album’s title track, “Mine” impressed fans with its hard sound and cutting-edge music video.

206,740 albums from Jan. 16 to April only, so hopefully there’s still reprinting so the sale will increase little by little up to the end of the year. Remember it surprisingly topped the Hanteo daily chart last May 9, Jaejoong fans are sometimes making wonders, lol.
nothing but the best from JJ~
Numbers don’t lie, fans follow their hero.
If I live to be 100 I will never understand WHY they printed so few copies of this album!! OK, THIS truly Left Field thought occurred to me this morning as a possible reason why: you don’t suppose they are purposely trying to appear non-threatening to SM so that they will calm down and lift the ban, do you?
Okay, JJ. Make a second solo album and bigger and better. Stick with your creative vision. Your fans will follow. Remember to stay humble for the fortunes you will recieve.
perdon, alguien duda de su talento?
Make more copies please!
Congratulation Jaejoong ❤ ❤ ❤

Leave a comment in this old news. Not sure anyone will see this.
I feel so wasted that until now JaeJoong still cannot appear in music show, he deserves to let everyone know about his talent!!! i just love all his songs so much. I knew him in the end of year 2016, and I bought all his CDs (except Y, can’t find at all…). I just love his songs! Play repeating everyday.
Again, it is wasted that cannot let public know about his songs!!!!
JaeJoong fighting!!!
We see and are reading your comments – don’t worry. 🙂 As to the music shows, my feeling is that they are only as important as the members themselves make them. They are still extremely popular, they are still doing everything they want to do: releasing albums, doing tours and appearing in TV dramas and on the musical stage. Jaejoong is a superstar in Korea – everyone knows who he is, especially the younger, newer idol singers. He is pretty much a legend among them. Don’t feel too bad for Jaejoong – he is rich, well taken care of, adored by his friends and above all, happy.
“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” – Winston Churchill
Yes, Jaejoong does have enemies. Those are the enemies of envy. Because Jaejoong had an opinion, because he wanted to do things his way, because he wanted to spread his wings and fly. He stood his ground, not some time but most of the time in his life. He grew his clipped wings and flew out and up. And we love him all the more for that.
Welcome to Jaejoong’s club. We are here not because he is an idol but because we love him for his honesty to himself and the truth, not blaming anybody who stands in his way but proving himself by talent, hard work and innovation. Jaejoong leads where others follow.
