In 2011, HEROSE established the “Kim Jaejoong Boomerang Scholarship Fund” with 15 million won. The Beautiful Foundation was started with the profits from ‘Herose goods’, the merchandise they sold on their official fan cafe, http://www.herose.co.kr. The money recauded was used to assist high school students in financial difficulties.
They named their scholarship fund ‘Boomerang’ with the idea that “Love is like a boomerang. We believe that when we plant hope in the hearts of others, we will reap a greater love which will be returned back to Jaejoong.”
Japanese Fans from WordClassJJ also joined and donated 10 million won, it was the first case where Japanese fans participated in a charity fund created under the star’s name by a Korean fanclub. The fans from the two countries Korean-Japan were applauded for taking the lead in creating a healthier fandom culture.
At the end of 2012, Kim Jaejoong’s fansite ‘Prickly noonas of HEROSE’ went to Beautiful Foundation to donate 10.8M KRW in support of “I Disagree’, a campaign against the unfair prices of school meals for institutionalized children.
Recently, Korean fansite HEROSE donated 10 million won (approximately $9500 USD) to “Kim Jaejoong Boomerang Scholarship Fund”.
