JYJ’s Kim Junsu has decided on his next musical project.
OD Musical Company, the production company behind Dracula, announced on May 7, “Singer and musical actor Kim Junsu has chosen Dracula to be his fifth musical in his life. He will be taking on the role of protagonist ‘Dracula’ along with Ryu Jung Han, who has been double cast for the role.”
OD Musical Company also added, “Kim Junsu is the actor that can act out a romantic ‘Dracula’ who has an innocent love towards a woman, unlike the original dark and scary image. We decided that he is the actor most fit for the role after having many meetings and watching his performances in other shows.”
According to an affiliate, Kim Junsu gladly accepted the offer to perform in his first Broadway musical after looking through Dracula’s scripts and music.
Producer Shin Choon Soo said, “With Kim Junsu’s casting, we’ll be able to show a charming and romantic Dracula that we intended to create for the show. After watching his other performances, we wanted to bring out the more rough and manly side of Kim Junsu in the musical. We are certain that Kim Junsu will be able to show off another side of his charms through the show. Dracula will become one of Kim Junsu’s representative musical projects in the future.”
Singer and musical actor Kim Junsu will star in ‘Dracula’ the musical.
Kim Junsu’s management agency C-JeS Entertainment said, “He received the proposal for appearing in ‘Dracula’ and decided on the role. We plan on finalizing the details and conditions soon.”
‘Dracula’ the musical will be introduced for the first time in Korea. Created as the musical based on the Gothic novel by Bram Stoker of the same name, ‘Dracula’ the musical premiered at San Diego’s La Jolla Playhouse in 2001, and entered onto Broadway in 2004.
Count Dracula –assumed by Kim Junsu– loves one woman for a millennium over the years, and is portrayed as a character with a wound from unfulfilled love and sadness at the same time. Because of fate he can’t die forever, having to watch the death of his lover and struggling with his desire for blood.
‘Dracula’ will arrive as the Korean adaptation and raises its curtains at Seoul Arts Center’s Opera House in July.
