Starring actors Kim Yoon-seok and Park Yoochun, movie ‘Sea Fog’ received a R-rating ‘Teenager restricted’ [T/N: under 19 prohibited].
Korea Media Rating Board (KMRB) reported the R-rating ‘Teenager restricted’ for ‘Sea Fog’ through its homepage on June 14.
Determined by the KMRB, the reason for the R-rating ‘Teenager restricted’ is because of the violence. The KMRB said, “The violent parts happening in the expressions of the movie are provocative; and including harmful contents described as consistently harsh for adolescents, there requires particular care to prevent the adolescents from watching”.
About this, ‘Sea Fog’ remains fixed on requesting for another grading again. On the afternoon of June 16, ‘Sea Fog’ representative spoke in a phone call with OSEN: “We have tried to put in the request for a reexamination of the grading once again”.
The representative added: “This is the reexamination of the first grading, but the movie will likely receive a lower grading than the movie’s R-rating ‘Teenager restricted’. From the origin, there isn’t a movie that can lower its grading by adjusting to their level control to be a movie with the R-rating ‘Teenager restricted’. Of course with the KMRB’s deliberation and decision, we don’t know how it will turn out but we have to give it a shot again”.
Meanwhile, ‘Sea Fog’ is in an unknown sea fog where one cannot see what’s in front of oneself, and will be released this August as the piece of work about the story of six mercenary crew members on an old ship who are swept into an uncontrollable accident when they shift over to ferrying stowaways.
